Here's the plan for the first full week of school!
Monday: Discuss questions on Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. HW: Blog response to one question (350-500 words).
Tuesday: Finish any unfinished discussions. Review blogs. HW: By Friday, post comments on three different blogs. Respond to any comments posted to your blog. HW for Wed: Read "How to Mark a Book" by Mortimer J. Adler and "How to Do a Close Reading" by Patricia Kain.
Wednesday: Discuss the Adler and Kain essays. Practice annotation.
Thursday: Read, annotate, and discuss the essay "Living with the Dead." Examine the terms essay, rhetoric, and discourse.
Friday: In-class writing: passage analysis.

The YouTube video was interesting and it had excellent music, but I thought it was odd how they portrayed Oskar as a girl. It was a good summary of events. Do you know if it was a school project?
Yes, this was a school project. The music certainly added to the haunting sense of loss.
I agree with natalie, I found it incredibly odd how they used a girl to play the part of Oskar. I guess I can kind of understand if this was a group project and there wasn't a boy in the group, but I think that takes away from the power of the video.
