NOW THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!!!
These speeches are ones from the presidential candidates right?
They can but they don't have to be. Go back into history and listen to some of the amazing speeches. Explore the site. There are many options.
How long should the speech we pick out be? Estimating how many words? Do you want the Gettysburg Address or William Jennings Bryant's "Cross of Gold?"
It's all about balance, Monk. Somewhere in between. We will study the GA, so that's not an option. It's not about length; it's about depth. Look for richness in rhetorical devices.
The Gettysburg Address, that hallowed work of the English language, that epiphany of America, that divine vision of Abraham Lincoln, is now the “GA”? What hath become of man?
Monk, take a look at some of Lincoln's other speeches. Take a look at his 2nd inaugural.
Hey this one's kinda long, but if it's available, I'd like to present Atticus's Final Argument.
