Week of 4/6-4/9

FINAL RESEARCH PAPER: DUE MONDAY, APRIL 6. No late papers will be accepted. Be sure you follow MLA format for the entire paper, not just the works cited page: Purdue Online Writing Lab. If you need more info, the Diane Hacker site is great.

Monday: Approaching a comparison/contrast prompt. Cycling in Portland articles.
Tuesday: In-class AP C/C prompt. Homework: Score samples of prompt.
Wednesday: Evaluate samples and score own.
Thursday: Rhetorical Term Rummy!
Friday: Spring Break begins!

Read your non-fiction book and prepare POW #6. Read The Winter of our Discontent. Get some rest and come back refreshed and ready to work!

Will there be a comparison/contrast prompt on the AP test? Just wondering.

There's no way of knowing. The one you will do was on the test, so it has happened before. Even though it's a comparison/contrast, its essence is as a rhetorical analysis. You'll see...

Ms. H, I am attempting to make sure that my paper is in correct MLA format and I wasn't sure how I should site my sources because a number of them don't have authors and, since they are internet sites, they don't have page numbers. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure if you mean in-text citation or works cited citation. Regardless, if you don't find the answer at the OWL site, go to this one: http://www.dianahacker.com/resdoc/p04_c08_o.html. It's very comprehensive and should give you all the answers you need.
